Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is approaching the upcoming NFL season with a transformed sense of purpose after welcoming his first child earlier this year.

The 30-year-old star and his wife, Hailee Steinfeld, became parents to daughter Harper Haize just a few months ago.

Training camp preparations at St. John Fisher University now carry extra meaning for the signal-caller entering his ninth professional campaign. Allen recently discussed the shift in an interview with People magazine.

“I’ve said this in a few different interviews in Buffalo, of why my ‘why’ has changed and why I’m doing this, and it’s not a personal ‘why’ anymore,” he said.

“It’s to show this little daughter that me and my wife are trying to raise how hard you need to work to accomplish something so great, so, I don’t think that the approach changes, but the why behind it does.”

His competitive objectives remain centered on delivering Buffalo its first Super Bowl championship. Yet Allen has made clear that fatherhood ranks as his highest priority.

A video circulating on social media Monday captured the depth of that change. The clip, posted by Pat Spinsosa, shows Allen addressing supporters at his annual 117 Hole for Children’s fundraising golf event held in May.

Seventeen participants competed across 117 holes to benefit The Patricia Allen Fund, which partners with Golisano Children’s Hospital. The foundation carries the name of Allen’s late grandmother and has generated more than $17 million since its 2020 launch.

Speaking to the audience, Allen grew emotional while reflecting on parenthood.

“Having my daughter,” Allen said. “I look at parents differently, because I can picture myself in that situation now where I never could. So I just want to say, you guys are inspiring to me, as well, and everybody here. That’s what The Patricia Allen Fund was made for — was not just to help support these kids, but to support these families that are going through such hard times… and this year has just been so different. I can’t really put into words what it means. But I know that feeling of holding your son or daughter and wanting to take away every pain that they may feel.”

Allen contributed $117,000 of his own money to the cause. The tournament overall collected more than $775,000. Social media users responded warmly to the vulnerable moment.

The footage has drawn tens of thousands of likes as fans connect with Allen’s new role beyond the football field.

Allen continues balancing the demands of leading the Bills while embracing life as a first-time father.
