ESPN recently released 10 blockbuster moves that should happen in the NBA this offseason. One of the moves was LeBron James signing with the Philadelphia 76ers.

As we head into the summer, NBA rumors always heat up, as the summer in the NBA is arguably more exciting than the actual product on the court sometimes. One of the teams that will be linked to many players this offseason is the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 76ers have a great duo in Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey but have come up short in the playoffs. However, the team has cap space this summer and should be a desirable destination to add another star, or a player close to that caliber.

Recently, ESPN stated that the 76ers should sign LeBron James this summer if he decides to move on from the Los Angeles Lakers. Here’s what they had to say.

James would be replacing Tobias Harris, who never panned out as a third or fourth option in Philly and likely closed out his Sixers tenure with a scoreless performance when Philly got eliminated by the Knicks in the first round of the 2024 playoffs.

If James does decide to move on from the Lakers, the 76ers would be an exciting fit for him. Since LeBron James has done it all in the league, winning and perhaps playing with his son are the only two important things remaining on his to-do list.

Joining forces with a young star in Maxey and a former MVP in Embiid would certainly make the 76ers a great team in the Eastern Conference. With the money available to pursue James, the real challenge would be convincing him to leave Los Angeles.

With Harris coming off the books, the Philadelphia 76ers will have a lot of flexibility this summer. Should the opportunity present itself, LeBron James would be an excellent fit.
