Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers Reveal Bold 2024 Season Wager

The LSU Tigers have produced a lot of excellent NFL players in recent years, with Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers looking to become the next ones. With the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders selected Daniels to become their franchise quarterback.

Just four picks later, his No. 1 receiver in the 2023 season landed with the Commanders NFC East rivals, the New York Giants. The two will face off against each other at least twice per season as divisional foes.

Those matchups will certainly be emotional ones between Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers, as they will want to beat the other. There will be some added motivation as it has come to light that there is a wager between the two.

While making an appearance on The Pivot with Ryan Clark, Malik Nabers revealed that the former LSU stars have made a bet with each other about who will win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. During an episode of “All Facts No Brakes”, a podcast hosted by former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson, Jayden Daniels confirmed the wager and how much it is for.

“Man, he wasn’t supposed to tell nobody,” Daniels said of the bet. “We got a little something going on.”

Daniels also confirmed that it was for “10” when asked by Johnson after Nabers had said “whoever lose gotta pay, I think it’s $10,000 cash.” (H/T ESPN)

According to ESPN, there is a good chance that this wager won’t happen. Education for the league’s gambling policy will take place during rookie minicamp, which starts with orientation on Thursday.

Per ESPN, that have, “contacted the NFL league office to determine if this would violate its policy on gambling but did not immediately hear back. The league’s policy states that NFL personnel are prohibited from “placing, soliciting or facilitating any bet, whether directly or through a third party,” on any NFL game, practice or other league event, such as the draft or combine.” It includes betting on the outcome of a game, statistics, the score or individual performance and other prop bets. It also says gambling includes “private wagers between teammates, family and friends, or others.”

A friendly wager between Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers seems harmless enough, but if there are any violations of league rules, it will be nipped in the bud immediately. Regardless, you can expect some fireworks when they face off for the first time as opponents in the NFL.

The rivalry between the Giants and Commanders is already a strong one. Adding the former LSU stars on opposite sidelines will bring it to another level.
