Philadelphia 76ers Rumors: Team Could Target Kevin Durant

After being eliminated in the first round against the New York Knicks, there have been plenty of Philadelphia 76ers rumors about what the team might do this offseason. One of the Philadelphia 76ers rumors is that they might be interested in pursuing Kevin Durant in the offseason.

By all accounts, it seems like the 76ers are going to be looking to pair a third star with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Due to the struggles of the team in the playoffs in recent years, there was some speculation that Embiid might get moved. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Now, the 76ers will have some flexibility in terms of assets and cap space, which is a good place to be in. One of the players that they might be looking to pursue if he becomes available is Kevin Durant.

While the 76ers might be interested in Kevin Durant, it’s hard to know as of now if Durant will be available. The Suns did have a disappointing performance in the 2024 NBA Playoffs, as a team with Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal was handled rather easily by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Due to the poor performance in the playoffs, it is certainly possible that the Suns decide to make some moves this offseason. As a veteran whom the Suns gave up a lot of assets for, they might look to recoup some of that by trading Durant.

Talent-wise, the Suns have a lot of things to like and it might be more of a coaching change that happens before moving a player like Durant. Durant was somewhat vocal that he didn’t like his role in the offense, and a star player not being happy usually leads to change.

As always in the NBA offseason, rumors will certainly be flying around the Suns, Philadelphia 76ers, and Kevin Durant. With the NBA Playoffs still very much in full swing, we will have to continue to monitor what happens on the rumor mill.
