Eagles’ AJ Brown Doesn’t Hold Back About Trade Rumors

The conclusion of the 2023 NFL season brought about a series of challenges and changes for AJ Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles, prompting significant adjustments in the early stages of the offseason. Following their loss in Super Wild Card Weekend to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a comprehensive restructuring of the coaching staff was initiated.

Head coach Nick Sirianni managed to retain his position, but there was a substantial overhaul within his coaching team. For the third consecutive season, new faces assumed the roles of offensive and defensive coordinators, with Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio stepping into these critical positions.

Naturally, this transition at the top is expected to have a cascading effect on the rest of the coaching staff, as the 2024 season shapes up to be pivotal for Sirianni’s future.

With the coaching changes now underway, the spotlight is shifting towards the Philadelphia Eagles’ player roster. Among the players drawing significant attention is their star wide receiver, A.J. Brown. His reduced involvement in key moments towards the end of the previous season became a topic of discussion, particularly as he expressed visible discontent on the sidelines.

As a result, speculations have emerged regarding the possibility of the Eagles trading A.J. Brown during this offseason. Brown himself recently addressed these trade rumors during an appearance on Up and Adams, alongside teammate DeVonta Smith.

“I don’t know… maybe they know something I don’t. If something happens, I’ll be waiting by the phone, if not, I’ll be right here.”

Trade rumors are nothing new for Brown, having been traded once before in his career when the Tennessee Titans sent him to the Eagles during the 2022 NFL Draft in exchange for a first and third-round pick.

During his two seasons in Philadelphia, Brown has consistently delivered impressive performances, earning Pro Bowl honors in both campaigns. However, a noticeable disconnect appeared to exist between Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts. The question now arises: will the coaching changes bring about a resolution to these issues?

As the offseason progresses, this is a storyline that will undoubtedly warrant close monitoring. While Brown may be saying all the right things in front of the cameras, it remains to be seen whether his true sentiments differ behind closed doors.

Losing A.J. Brown would undoubtedly represent a significant setback for the Eagles’ passing offense. However, DeVonta Smith has demonstrated the potential to step into a No. 1 receiver role if needed. Nevertheless, if the Eagles do decide to part ways with Brown, it will be imperative for them to address the wide receiver position, given the current lack of depth on the roster beyond their top two options.
