Report: Heat Won’t Make Aggressive Push For Hawks’ Dejounte Murray

According to NBA insider Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, the Miami Heat won’t make an aggressive push for Atlanta Hawks star Dejounte Murray.

The Hawks are expected to trade Murray before the February 8 trade deadline.

“One person in touch with the Heat’s front office expressed skepticism about the likelihood of the Heat making a particularly aggressive push for Murray, without knowing for sure what Miami would do,” Jackson wrote.

Murray is averaging 20.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.3 blocks this season while shooting 46.7% from the floor, 38.6% from beyond the arc and 82.1% from the free-throw line. The one-time All-Star is making $17.7 million.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Dejounte Murray, Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat Updates

According to NBA insider Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Hawks want two first-round picks for Murray, who signed a four-year, $114 million extension in July. The Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons are interested in acquiring Murray, sources told NBA Analysis Network.

During a conversation with NBA reporter Marc J. Spears of Andscape, Murray talked about seeing and hearing his name in trade rumors with the deadline coming up.

“I tell several people who I stand for as a person,” Murray said. “That is who Dejounte Murray is. As a man or person, however you want to put it, it’s not appropriate for me to talk about that or let that get in the way for my teammates. I love my teammates. My teammates love me. I’m not a GM, owner, an agent, none of those things. I’m a basketball player. I’m a hooper. So, I continue to learn, lead and work hard.”
