Cowboys Legend Doesn’t Hold Back On QB Dak Prescott

Not everyone maintains unwavering faith in Dak Prescott, but the Dallas Cowboys legend, Troy Aikman, remains a steadfast supporter.

After a season that showcased strong regular performance followed by playoff disappointments, some are once again questioning Prescott’s future with the Cowboys. To add to the mix, even Prescott’s own brother believes that a change of scenery might be in the quarterback’s best interest.

However, during a recent interaction with reporters at an event held at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Aikman made it clear that he continues to stand by Prescott and his potential moving forward.

“Well, I do know that we all draw on our past experiences. When we don’t have great experiences, those then become hard to overcome. I think that’s the challenge for Dak. Because the question for him and really for the team isn’t so much what happens in the regular season now. It’s how are they going to play and how is he going to play when you get into the postseason. That makes for a long year when that’s the way it works. I’ve been there as well, as far as when the expectations are that high. I still believe in Dak. I think until you do it, there’s always those criticisms.”

Prescott currently has one year left on his existing contract, but preliminary reports suggest that a contract extension might be in the cards.

In the 2023 season, the eight-year veteran quarterback threw for an impressive 4,516 yards, recorded 36 touchdowns, and had only nine interceptions. This performance helped the Cowboys secure the NFC East title, though their playoff journey ended with a 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round.

Next season, even more pressure will be on Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott. If they don’t win, massive changes could be in store.
