REPORT: Falcons, Bill Belichick May Have Hit A Snag In Negotiations

Bill Belichick’s potential partnership with the Atlanta Falcons might encounter some hurdles.

The revered head coach of the New England Patriots has engaged in two interviews for the Falcons’ vacant head coaching position, even sitting down with team owner Arthur Blank. At this juncture, it appears that the Falcons are the frontrunners to secure Belichick’s services.

However, a potential issue of comfortability appears to be brewing between Belichick and the Falcons organization. Reports suggest that Belichick would find it uncomfortable to report to Falcons CEO Rich McKay, with whom he is rumored to have a longstanding disagreement.

“That setup, a year later, might need more adjusting, because it’s hard to see Belichick being comfortable with any sort of arrangement where he’s reporting to McKay. Mostly because, well, those two haven’t been on the same page over the years, with the former Patriot coach’s (often open) disdain for the NFL’s competition committee that McKay has long chaired.”

If the Falcons are ultimately faced with the decision of choosing between Belichick and McKay, it would likely be a straightforward choice for owner Arthur Blank.

The Falcons parted ways with head coach Arthur Smith following a disappointing 2023 season, and Atlanta has been consistently linked to Belichick since his departure from the Patriots.

Only time will reveal whether the Falcons are prepared to meet Bill Belichick’s demands and concerns.
