Alabama Crimson Tide Lose Another Key Starter To Transfer Portal

The Alabama Crimson Tide football roster is facing another significant setback following the retirement of Nick Saban.

According to reports from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, John Talty, and Chris Hummer, left tackle Kadyn Proctor, who was once a highly-touted five-star recruit and earned recognition as part of the All-SEC Freshman Team in 2023, has made the decision to enter the transfer portal.

Proctor’s move adds to the list of potential departures from Alabama’s roster, with SEC Freshman of the Year Caleb Downs being another notable classmate who is considering his options.

Georgia is currently seen as the frontrunner for Downs, while Iowa is emerging as a possible destination for Proctor.

Kadyn Proctor, originally the top offensive tackle and ranked as the fifth-best overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, initially committed to Iowa but later switched to Alabama on signing day. Despite starting as Alabama’s primary left tackle during his freshman year, Proctor has now confirmed his intention to transfer, as announced on his Instagram account.

Alabama has chosen Kalen DeBoer, formerly of Washington, as the replacement for the legendary Nick Saban. While DeBoer brings a winning track record and experience that includes a trip to the College Football Playoff National Championship, he faces the formidable task of reshaping the team’s roster in the wake of these developments.

Welcome to the ever-evolving landscape of college football in 2024.
