Florida State Keeps Snagging Players Bolting From Alabama

When Nick Saban’s retirement was announced last week, many assumed that programs like Georgia and LSU would be the primary beneficiaries of his departure. However, in a surprising twist, it appears that Florida State is flourishing in the post-Saban at Alabama era of college football.

Over the weekend, Florida State secured a commitment from Roydell Williams, a transfer from Alabama who had an impressive season with 560 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 111 carries.

Just a few days later, Florida State welcomed another transfer from Alabama to its roster, this time in the form of linebacker Shawn Murphy.

What’s even more remarkable is that Murphy becomes the fifth player from Alabama to choose Florida State as their destination this offseason. Joining him are wide receiver Malik Benson, offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson, and cornerback Earl Little II, all of whom have pledged their commitment to the Seminoles.

It’s evident that these former Alabama players have confidence in what Mike Norvell is building in Tallahassee.

Despite a less-than-ideal ending to the 2023 season for Florida State, there’s no denying that Coach Norvell has the program moving in the right direction.

Over the past two years, the Seminoles have notched an impressive total of 23 victories, showcasing the promising future that lies ahead for the team.
