Miami Hurricanes Expected To Target QB Taulia Tagovailoa?

The Miami Hurricanes have a new quarterback option on the horizon. According to a report by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, Taulia Tagovailoa, the former Maryland quarterback, has officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The eligibility situation for Tagovailoa remains somewhat uncertain at this point. It’s unclear whether the NCAA has granted him an additional year of eligibility, or if that decision is still pending. He has recently submitted a waiver, indicating his intent to possibly extend his college football career.

Tagovailoa boasts an impressive resume, having started for four seasons with the Maryland Terrapins.

In 2023, he led the Big Ten conference with 3,377 passing yards, throwing 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions during the last season. His tenure at Maryland also made him the all-time passing leader for the university, accumulating 11,256 passing yards and 76 touchdowns.

Recent reports have suggested that Taulia Tagovailoa is interested in joining the Miami Hurricanes, a move that would bring him closer to his older brother, Tua, who is currently in his fourth season with the Miami Dolphins.

For the Hurricanes, Tagovailoa could offer invaluable experience to their relatively young quarterback room. While Jacurri Brown, entering his third season, is the most experienced signal caller for Miami, most of their quarterback targets have been graduate transfers.

Tagovailoa’s potential arrival aligns with the Hurricanes’ desire to continue developing their young quarterbacks for another season while having an upperclassman lead the offense in 2024.
