Michigan Wolverines Receive Huge Commitment From Offensive Weapon

Despite the imminent College Football Playoff championship game featuring the Michigan Wolverines, head coach Jim Harbaugh is not slowing down on the recruiting front.

His recent recruiting victory comes in the form of a commitment from 2025 four-star tight end Eli Owens, hailing from Alcoa, Tennessee.

Announcing his decision on Thursday, Owens has secured his place in Michigan’s future roster. In the 2025 class, he holds the 355th overall player ranking and is ranked as the 19th-best tight end, as per 247 Sports’ composite rankings.

Standing tall at 6 and a half feet and weighing 243 pounds, Owens was a highly sought-after recruit, boasting a total of 18 scholarship offers, as reported by 247 Sports. In the end, he opted for the Wolverines over competitive offers from prominent programs such as Michigan State, Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, among others.

During the 2022-23 season, Owens showcased his versatility on the field. He recorded 33 receptions, accumulating an impressive 385 yards and scoring five touchdowns across 15 games.

On the defensive end, Owens contributed with 21 tackles and two sacks, displaying his prowess on both sides of the ball, as documented by MaxPreps.

Eli Owens’ commitment solidifies Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class, which is steadily gaining momentum. Alongside Owens, the Wolverines have secured commitments from other notable talents, including four-star cornerback Chris Ewald, three-star quarterback Carter Smith, and three-star defensive lineman Bobby Kanka.

This impressive group has helped elevate the Michigan Wovlerines’ recruiting class to the 12th-best in the nation, according to 247Sports.
