With the dust settled from the 2024 NBA Draft, what grade did the Atlanta Hawks receive for their selections?

The Atlanta Hawks started off the festivities in the 2024 NBA Draft, as it became more and more apparent that they were going to select Zaccharie Risacher with the first overall pick. Coming into the draft, that appeared like it was going to be their only pick, however, in round two they acquired a pick from Miami and selected Nikola Djurisic.

Without a clear-cut superstar like Victor Wembanyama coming out this season, Risacher and the Hawks will have a lot of eyes on them for years to come if this goes down as the right selection.

With the draft over, ESPN recently graded all of the teams in the NBA for their performance. Here’s what they had to say about the Hawks’ draft.

Atlanta Hawks: B

Round 1: Zaccharie Risacher (No. 1)

Round 2: Nikola Djurisic (No. 43 via Miami)

In a draft without a consensus No. 1 prospect, Atlanta went with perhaps the closest thing in Risacher, whose size and shooting fills a need in the Hawks’ future starting five alongside power forward Jalen Johnson and whichever point guard the team keeps.

Having the first overall pick certainly helped the Atlanta Hawks receive a solid grade of a “B”. While Risacher is a bit of an unknown coming from overseas, he was regarded by many as the top player in the draft.

In the second round, the Hawks also took a foreign player that not many people will know about. As a second-round pick, Djurisic could stay overseas for a few years still and we will have to wait and see what type of pick he will be.

The Hawks might have gotten lucky with the first overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. But, by no means is Risacher going to have a rookie season like we saw from Wembanyama last season.
