Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints with a hamstring injury, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Friday.
Flowers got hurt in the first half of the Ravens’ 41-23 season-opening win over the Indianapolis Colts. He did not return.
He missed practice Wednesday and Thursday. Flowers was back on the field Friday but did very little during the portion open to the media, ESPN’s Jamison Hensley reported. Hensley said Flowers stood and spoke with teammates and coaches and did not run.
Head coach Jesse Minter had called Flowers day-to-day all week. On Monday, Minter said he felt pretty good about where the injury stood.
The hamstring has been an issue since the summer. Flowers hurt it during joint practices with the Minnesota Vikings in training camp and missed about two weeks before returning Sept. 3.
His opener showed what Baltimore stands to lose. Flowers caught five of six targets for a career-high 150 yards and a touchdown, all before halftime, including a 54-yard catch-and-run for a score.
Lamar Jackson posted a perfect 158.3 passer rating when throwing to him.
The Ravens scored 31 points in the first half. After Flowers and rookie Ja’Kobi Lane left, they managed 10 in the second.
Lane has since gone on injured reserve with a reported fractured wrist.
That leaves Baltimore thin at the position. Rashod Bateman moved into the top spot after Flowers went down, with LaJohntay Wester replacing him and veteran Chris Moore as the only other active receiver.
The Ravens have since moved Moore to the 53-man roster. Devontez Walker, who missed the opener with a groin injury, was a full participant in practice this week.
Offensive coordinator Declan Doyle has said throughout the preseason that there should be no drop-off when backups move into bigger roles.
New Orleans has receiver questions of its own. Chris Olave led the NFL with 182 receiving yards in Week 1, but he was limited in practice this week with a hamstring injury.
Pass rushers Chase Young (calf) and Cameron Jordan (hamstring) were also limited.
Baltimore got better news on the offensive line Friday. Left tackle Ronnie Stanley (toe) and left guard John Simpson (groin) returned to practice, along with outside linebacker Trey Hendrickson (hand).
Should Flowers miss Sunday, Bateman would lead the receiver group in the home opener.
The Ravens host the Saints at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
