The 2023 season was a very successful one for the Washington Huskies, putting together one of the most successful campaigns in program history. Washington went 12-0 in the regular season, winning the PAC-12 Championship and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff.

There, they drew a matchup against the Texas Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl. Washington was victorious, coming away with a 37-31 win. But, they suffered their only loss of the season in the National Championship Game to Michigan, 34-13.

Their success has led to some major changes occurring this offseason. Head coach Kalen DeBoer is now the head coach at Alabama. Star quarterback Michael Penix Jr. left for the NFL along with several of his top weapons.

Jedd Fisch, who took over as head coach after three seasons at Arizona, will have his work cut out for him in 2024. There is a lot of talent that needs to be replaced, but Washington hit on a major recruit this week.

On Tuesday night, quarterback Treston “Kini” McMillan of Mililani High School in Hawaii committed to the University of Washington as part of the team’s 2025 recruiting class. That is the same high school former UCF and Oklahoma quarterback Dylan Gabriel hailed from.

This is a huge addition for Fisch, as McMillan is the reigning Hawaii Gatorade Player of the Year. Measuring 6 feet tall and weighing 201 pounds, McMillan is a dual-threat quarterback. He passed for 3,521 yards and 42 touchdowns, adding 575 yards on the ground along with 11 more scores. His team went 11-2 and finished second in the state.

McMillan visited Washington last weekend and saw enough to commit to the program. He is the fifth commit that Fisch and his staff have locked in for 2025, joining running back Julian McMahan, wide receiver Raiden Vines-Bright, offensive lineman Jake Flores and fellow quarterback Ashton “Dash” Beierly.
