The Minnesota Vikings are adding veteran outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy, according to multiple reports Tuesday night.
“Veteran OLB Kyle Van Noy is signing with the Vikings, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports,” The Ringer and Netflix Sports’ Tom Pelissero reported on X.
“Van Noy and DC Brian Flores won two Super Bowls together with the Patriots. Now they’re teaming up in Minnesota, where Van Noy will start on the practice squad to ramp up.”
The move pairs Van Noy again with defensive coordinator Brian Flores, the coach he worked with during New England’s championship years.
“The Vikings are indeed signing edge rusher Kyle Van Noy, a source confirms @TomPelissero,” The Athletic’s Alec Lewis wrote.
“The perfect signing for an edge rusher position that lacked depth for months. Tyler Batty ’ s torn ACL added further urgency. Van Noy has familiarity with Brian Flores & defensive terminology.”
Van Noy, 35, spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens. He started 13 of the 15 games he played in 2025.
He originally entered the league as a second-round draft choice of the Detroit Lions. He later won two Super Bowls with the Patriots.
His career also includes stops with the Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Dolphins.
Over 173 games, Van Noy has started 115 times. He has recorded 561 tackles, 57.0 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, 10 fumble recoveries and four interceptions. He earned a Pro Bowl nod during that stretch.
Minnesota has needed more bodies at edge rusher for months. The injury to Tyler Batty made the need more immediate.
Van Noy’s knowledge of Flores’ system should help him get up to speed quickly even as he begins on the practice squad.
The Vikings can use that extra time to bring the veteran along while evaluating how he fits the current roster.
At this stage of his career, Van Noy is no longer the every-down force he once was, but he still offers experience and production against the pass. His sack total of 57 ranks him among the more productive edge players of his generation.
The signing gives Minnesota another option as it prepares for the upcoming season and looks to stabilize a position that has been thin.
Team officials have not issued an official statement. The reports from Pelissero and Lewis provided the first public details Tuesday.
Van Noy’s arrival continues a pattern of veterans joining familiar coaches later in their careers.
Flores and Van Noy already share two Super Bowl rings from their Patriots days. That history is expected to ease the transition in Minnesota.
The practice-squad designation allows the Vikings to add him without immediately using a 53-man roster spot while he works back into game shape.
