Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning Looks Like A Superstar

The Texas Longhorns are in a fortunate position with two potential No. 1 overall draft picks at quarterback.

Quinn Ewers going down with a short-term injury has given redshirt freshman Arch Manning a chance to shine, and he’s seized the opportunity with impressive performances that highlight his readiness for the spotlight.

On Saturday, the Longhorns began their SEC campaign against Mississippi State, with Manning making just his second career start.

Despite his limited experience, Manning played with the poise and confidence usually seen in seasoned veterans. Engineering a ruthlessly efficient offense, Manning finished the game with 324 passing yards on an impressive 26-of-31 attempts, including two touchdown passes.

He wasn’t just effective through the air; Manning also contributed on the ground, rushing for 33 yards and a touchdown, as he led the offense to amass 522 total yards from scrimmage.

Manning’s performance against Mississippi State is part of a larger body of work that’s quickly catching the attention of NFL scouts.

Through four games, including two starts, Manning has thrown for 900 yards, nine touchdowns, and just two interceptions. If he were eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft, there is little doubt that Manning would be a first-round pick and potentially the top quarterback on the board.

However, Manning won’t be eligible until the 2026 NFL Draft, which means Texas fans—and college football enthusiasts—will get to see more of his growth over the next few seasons.

With Ewers expected to return from injury as soon as next week, Manning’s time on the field this season may be limited. But the impact he’s already made has provided a glimpse of his immense potential.

The Manning family name has long been synonymous with NFL success, and Arch appears ready to carry that legacy forward. Whether or not he continues to start in 2024, he’s shown more than enough to prove that his talent and dedication could make him the next Manning to dominate on Sundays.

The sky is the limit for Arch Manning, and NFL teams will surely be keeping a close watch as he continues to develop into a future star.
