Nico Collins injured his hamstring at Wednesday’s practice, and the Houston Texans wide receiver’s status for Sunday’s game against Cincinnati is uncertain, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Collins met with team doctors after practice. According to the source, the doctors do not believe the injury is serious.
Houston listed him as limited on Wednesday’s injury report.
Collins has missed time with this injury before. In 2024, he hurt his hamstring in a Week 5 win over Buffalo, went on injured reserve and missed five games.
He is 27. Collins led the Texans with seven catches for 75 yards on 10 targets in Sunday’s 36-31 home loss to the Buffalo Bills.
His 12-yard touchdown from C.J. Stroud cut Buffalo’s halftime lead to 24-21. Earlier, a 25-yard catch on third-and-8 set up David Montgomery’s 1-yard touchdown run, the Bills’ website reported.
Montgomery scored three times in the opener, twice on the ground and once through the air.
Collins is a two-time Pro Bowler. He has led Houston in receiving in each of the last three seasons and topped 1,000 yards in all three.
The receiver room is already short one player. Jayden Higgins will miss the season with a torn ACL.
Jaylin Noel, Jared Wayne and Kayshon Boutte all caught passes from Stroud against Buffalo. Houston acquired Boutte from New England in a trade late in training camp.
The Texans have reached the playoffs in each of the last three seasons.
Cincinnati arrives at 1-0 after beating Tampa Bay 33-27. The Bengals forced four turnovers and sacked Baker Mayfield four times in that game.
Joe Burrow is dealing with back tightness but expects to play, ESPN’s Ben Baby reported. Sunday is the Cincinnati Bengals‘ first road game of the season.
The stadium formerly known as NRG Stadium went back to its original name, Reliant Stadium, in August for the Texans’ 25th season.
Kickoff at Reliant Stadium is noon CT Sunday.
