Tankathon’s latest 2027 NFL mock draft has Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss coming off the board at No. 13 overall to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a first-round projection that puts a dual-threat passer in range of a franchise already treating this season as Aaron Rodgers’ last.
Rodgers is 2-2. He has completed 88 of 153 passes for 999 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions, an 81.6 rating. On Thursday he was 22 of 40 for 299 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in a 27-24 loss at Cleveland, then ran in a game-tying two-point conversion.
The Steelers still have Mason Rudolph, Will Howard and Drew Allar in the room. None are a lock to be the succession plan.
Chambliss is listed at 6-foot and 210 pounds. Tankathon ranks him 22nd overall and fifth among quarterbacks, with a mock slot at pick No. 13.Through four games he is 102 of 144 for 1,222 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions, a 70.8 completion rate, plus 108 rushing yards and four scores.
He accounted for four touchdowns in a 41-38 win over Louisville and three more in a 32-24 win over LSU. Florida beat Ole Miss 52-28, holding him to 298 yards, one passing touchdown and two rushing scores.
“Chambliss will be starting in the NFL at this time next year,” The Athletic’s Dane Brugler wrote after the LSU game.
The résumé is longer than the ranking. In 2025 he threw for 3,937 yards, 22 touchdowns and three interceptions and was the offensive MVP of a Sugar Bowl upset of Georgia. Career FBS totals: 5,159 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and six interceptions, plus 635 rushing yards and 12 scores. He began at Division II Ferris State and won a court fight for a sixth year of eligibility.
Height and age are the flags. Scouts have measured him under six feet. He would be a 25-year-old rookie. The arm and the legs are the pitch. He is not a pure pocket passer, and he is not a designed runner in the Lamar Jackson mold. He is the middle case: a quarterback who can throw from structure and extend when the pocket breaks.
That is a different profile than Rodgers, who has been sacked 13 times and has little mobility left. Mike McCarthy’s offense has lived on timing since the reunion. Chambliss would be a bet that the next starter needs to move.
Arch Manning, Darrian Mensah, CJ Carr and Dante Moore sit ahead of him on most boards. Chambliss is the next name — productive, older, already tested against LSU and Louisville.
Tankathon updates after every game and factors need. Pittsburgh’s record will move the pick. A 2-2 start still leaves the Steelers in range of the teens. The quarterback room will not look finished if Rodgers walks and Allar is still a project.
Replacement is the word because this has been framed as Rodgers’ final season. The mock has the Steelers taking Chambliss at 13 before they have to find out whether that is true.
