Before joining the Cardinals organization in March 2025, Ramirez spent time developing in the New York Mets farm system. His path through the minors included a brief appearance at the Triple-A level in 2024 with the Syracuse Mets, where he threw a scoreless inning.
Across six minor-league seasons totaling 376 innings, he has compiled a career 3.54 ERA, 330 strikeouts, and a 1.245 WHIP. Those figures illustrate a pitcher who has shown flashes of competence but has not yet secured a lasting foothold higher in the ranks.
The release leaves Ramirez as a free agent, free to pursue opportunities with any major-league club. For the Cardinals, the decision fits a pattern of ongoing roster evaluation as the team navigates the second half of the season under president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom and manager Oliver Marmol.
While the move drew little public attention during the Phillies series, it reflects the constant turnover that occurs throughout professional baseball’s minor-league system, where organizations continually assess which players best fit long-term plans.
Ramirez’s journey from the Dominican Republic through two different organizations underscores the competitive nature of advancing in the sport.
