The Los Angeles Rams have terminated the contract of offensive tackle Bryce Henderson, waiving the 6-foot-8 rookie as the team trimmed its roster ahead of the NFL’s 53-player deadline.
Henderson, listed at 6-foot-8 and about 325 pounds, was one of 14 players waived Saturday as Los Angeles began cutting down from its 90-man camp roster.
The Rams also released linebackers Tomon Fox and Monty Rice and placed quarterback Matthew Caldwell on injured reserve.
The move ends a short stay for the undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt. Los Angeles signed Henderson in late April after the 2026 draft. He had signed a three-year, $3.1 million undrafted deal with a 2026 cap hit of $885,000 and no guaranteed money that would have complicated the cut.
Henderson arrived with rare size. The 24-year-old from Aurora, Illinois, played five seasons at FCS South Dakota, starting 34 games at right tackle and left guard, before transferring to Vanderbilt for his final college year.
There, he started 13 games and rotated between left and right tackle, sometimes from snap to snap. Scouts liked his length—nearly 35-inch arms and large hands—but noted stiffness in his movement and the need for more strength after a late jump to FBS competition.
In camp he received work on the second and third units. In the preseason finale against the Chargers he logged 74 snaps alongside other developmental linemen, but the Rams’ established group at tackle and interior line left little room.
Starters and veterans such as Alaric Jackson, Warren McClendon Jr., and mid-round pick Keagen Trost occupy the primary spots, with additional depth from players like AJ Arcuri and Blake Hance.
Waiving Henderson is typical of this stage of roster construction. Undrafted linemen with project traits often need more time than a crowded 53-man roster can offer.
He can now be claimed off waivers by another club or sign to a practice squad if he clears. Given his frame, some team may still see a developmental swing tackle worth stashing.
For the Rams, the cut is part of a larger trim that also included several other undrafted and veteran depth pieces at linebacker, defensive back, tight end, and defensive line.
Head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead have until Sunday’s deadline to finalize the initial 53.
Henderson’s size made him an interesting camp body; it was not enough to keep him on the active roster as the regular season approaches.
