Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has taken a key step in addressing his future with the team by securing new representation for contract talks.
Nacua, entering the last year of his four-year rookie deal, hired WIN Sports Group to handle negotiations, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday.
The move comes as the standout receiver continues to prepare for the upcoming season without stepping away from the field.
Nacua was a fifth-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft and has delivered production that far exceeds his original contract value. Through three seasons, he has compiled 4,191 receiving yards, well ahead of several other receivers from the same draft class.
Last season alone, Nacua led the league with 129 catches while adding 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns. He earned unanimous first-team All-Pro recognition and served as a primary target for quarterback Matthew Stafford during an MVP campaign for the veteran signal-caller.
His current deal is valued at roughly $4.08 million over four years. A proven-performance escalator lifts his 2026 base salary to about $5.767 million. Because he was not a first-round pick, the Rams lack a fifth-year option that could have kept him under team control through 2027.
The timing of the agency hire stands out. WIN Sports Group also represents Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers, who agreed to a four-year, $140 million extension on Tuesday. That agreement includes $108 million in guarantees and averages $35 million per season.
Flowers and Nacua entered the league together in 2023, yet Nacua’s yardage total sits more than 1,000 yards higher over the same period.
The broader receiver market has climbed even higher. Seattle Seahawks wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba signed a four-year extension worth $168.6 million in March, averaging more than $42 million annually.
Some observers have suggested Nacua’s consistent production places him in a similar financial range once negotiations begin in earnest.
Despite the looming business discussions, Nacua has remained a steady presence at training camp. He told the team’s official website last week that the idea of sitting out practices never entered his thinking. He pointed to the bonds with his teammates and the personal importance football holds for him.
Rams head coach Sean McVay has praised that mindset. McVay noted Nacua’s accountability after a challenging offseason and expressed hope the two sides can remain together for a long time. The coach highlighted Nacua’s positive influence both on and off the field.
The Rams could allow Nacua to play out the 2026 season and then revisit extension talks before free agency arrives. They also retain the option of using the franchise tag in 2027 if an agreement cannot be reached sooner.
Delaying carries risks of its own. Another strong season from Nacua could further elevate the market for elite receivers, especially after recent high-value deals already set new benchmarks.
By bringing in WIN Sports Group now, Nacua has signaled that formal preparation for the next chapter of his career is underway while he stays focused on the immediate work of training camp and the season ahead.
