The Philadelphia Eagles turned their attention to roster depth on Monday morning after dropping a close contest to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

The team is adding 23-year-old defensive tackle Zion Wilson to the practice squad, according to Inside The Birds reporter Andrew DiCecco, reuniting with a player who spent training camp in Philadelphia earlier this year.

Wilson, a young interior lineman out of East Carolina, showed production during his final college season in 2025. He appeared in 13 games and finished with 42 tackles along with 7.0 sacks.

The Eagles signed him in June as they prepared for training camp, but he did not stick on the initial 53-man roster when the team finalized its roster decisions.

His return now comes as the club looks to reinforce the defensive line amid a string of injuries.

Those injuries have thinned an already competitive group. Jalyx Hunt left the London game early with a lower-body issue, and his availability for Week 6 remains uncertain.

Veteran Jonathan Greenard was ruled out before kickoff because of an ankle problem that dated to the previous matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

With several contributors potentially sidelined, the Eagles are adding Wilson strictly for depth as they prepare for the possibility that more players could miss time.

The timing follows a frustrating third consecutive loss. Philadelphia held a late lead with under 10 seconds remaining against the Jaguars, only to watch a walk-off field goal decide the outcome.

The defeat drops the Eagles to 2-3 on the season.

They return home next week to face the Carolina Panthers at Lincoln Financial Field, where the health of the defensive front could shape how the coaching staff approaches the game plan.

Wilson’s path to a call-up remains a long shot given the depth already present on the interior. Still, the Eagles appear intent on covering every contingency after the physical demands of the London trip and the injuries that surfaced.

For a player who was released just weeks ago, the practice squad spot offers another chance to develop while the team evaluates its options on the defensive line.

The move is modest on paper, yet it reflects the practical adjustments a contending roster often makes once the regular season reveals where reinforcements are needed most.
