As the Oklahoma City Thunder get ready for an important offseason, Bleacher Report recently named who should be their dream free agent; Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers.
It was a really good 2023-24 season for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder were able to take a big step forward, as they secured the first overall seed in the Western Conference. With a great young core, the future is bright in Oklahoma City, but they are also ready to contend now.
With the ability to win now with a young core, this is going to be a pivotal offseason for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder have the means to sign a top free agent to add to their team, and this summer could very well decide whether or not the Thunder will be title contenders next year.
Recently, Bleacher Report spoke about Paul George being the dream free-agent target for the Thunder. Here’s what they had to say.
Jalen Williams was an inconsistent No. 2 scoring option next to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander during the postseason. While he or Chet Holmgren could eventually be an All-Star-level second banana, signing Paul George as a free agent this summer would be a huge boost for the Thunder in the short term as they look to win now.
George’s name has been thrown around a lot already this offseason. With his ability to play at an All-Star level on both ends of the court, he fits in well pretty much anywhere. While Paul George might be highly sought after, he didn’t appear to get what he was looking for dollar-wise from the Los Angeles Clippers, as truly testing free agency seems likely.
One of the reasons why the Thunder have so much young talent is because of the decision to trade George to the Clippers in 2019. With some experience already being gained this past season, Paul George could very well be the final piece to a championship puzzle for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
