The 2024 season is set to showcase a particularly loaded running back room, one that has already been recognized as the best in the nation by an analyst.
Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus has crowned Ohio State as having the top running back corps in America, describing the decision as an “easy” one. The standout duo of Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson is at the heart of this acclaim.
“Ohio State is the only school that features two running backs who made the top 10 of my 2024 running back rankings, making it the easy choice to lead this list.”
Judkins, who transferred from Ole Miss during the offseason, brings an impressive resume to Ohio State. Over two seasons with the Rebels, the 6-foot, 219-pound native of Pike Road, Alabama, amassed 2,725 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns in just 26 games. His remarkable freshman year in 2022 earned him the title of SEC Freshman of the Year, and he was a first-team all-league performer in both of his seasons at Ole Miss.
Notably, Judkins became the first SEC running back since Herschel Walker to rush for 15 or more touchdowns in each of his first two seasons.
TreVeyon Henderson, now entering his fourth season with the Buckeyes, has shown flashes of brilliance despite dealing with injuries over the past two years. In 2023, Henderson rushed for 926 yards and 11 touchdowns. Throughout his career, he has accumulated 2,745 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns, underscoring his significant impact when healthy.
Adding to the depth of talent, four-star freshman James Peoples has been described by Chadwick as the “cherry on top” of an already formidable group. Additionally, fellow 2024 recruit Sam Williams-Dixon is expected to vie for playing time this fall, further strengthening the Buckeyes’ backfield.
