Nick Sirianni, the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, has experienced a significant shift in public perception over recent years. Once viewed as a promising young leader in the NFL, he now frequently appears in discussions about coaching jobs under threat.
This change stems largely from the team’s performance in the 2025 season. The Eagles secured the NFC East division title but suffered an early postseason exit, losing at home to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round by a score of 23-19.
The disappointing playoff result has fueled ongoing speculation about Sirianni’s long-term status with the franchise as the offseason progresses.
A recent analysis has added to the uncertainty surrounding his position. Fox Sports analyst Ralph Vacchiano published a column ranking NFL head coaches on the hot seat heading into 2026, placing Sirianni at No. 2, just behind New York Jets coach Aaron Glenn.
In his assessment, Vacchiano noted the high expectations in Philadelphia and the potential consequences of another underwhelming postseason.
“The Eagles will probably win double-digit games and the NFC East again in 2026. But if they don’t advance in the playoffs, no one will be shocked if they make a change,” Vacchiano wrote.
There have been rumored internal frustrations within the organization, pointing to past seasons like 2023 and 2025 where late-season slumps and playoff shortcomings created disappointment, despite Sirianni’s overall strong track record.
Reports of locker room tensions have compounded the scrutiny on Sirianni. Discussions have circulated about strained relationships involving key players such as A.J. Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts, along with reported dissatisfaction from running back Saquon Barkley. These issues have led some observers to question the coach’s ability to maintain harmony in a high-pressure environment.
Despite the current rumors, Sirianni’s tenure since 2021 has produced impressive results. He holds a 59-26 regular-season record and a 6-4 mark in the playoffs, including a Super Bowl victory in 2024 and an appearance in the big game in 2022, where the team fell to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Such accomplishments would typically provide significant job security, especially given the Eagles’ consistent success under his guidance, which includes multiple division titles and deep playoff runs.
Nevertheless, the NFL operates in a win-now landscape, particularly for a franchise like the Eagles with ambitious ownership and fan expectations.
