New York Knicks rumors have been popping up for weeks. The focus has been on moves the team will make after being eliminated in the second round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs by the Indiana Pacers. One of the players much of the talk has been focused on is OG Anunoby.
OG Anunoby is one of the best two-way forwards in the NBA. When the Knicks acquired him, along with Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn from the Toronto Raptors, their performance took off on both ends of the court.
With him in the lineup, New York was one of the best teams in the NBA. Without him, their production fell off a cliff. Retaining him in free agency is imperative for the franchise, especially when taking into account what they traded to acquire him.
However, if recent Knicks rumors are to be believed, there is work to do. One of the new rules in the NBA is that teams can talk to their own free agents once the NBA Finals are over. With the Boston Celtics defeating the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night, the Knicks can talk to OG Anunoby.
According to ESPN insider Brian Windhorst, those talks have not been very positive thus far. On ESPN’s Get Up on Tuesday morning, Windhorst revealed that the situation is one to keep an eye on as OG Anunboy didn’t like the first offer made.
“Most people believe Anunoby will stay with New York, but there have been indications he may want to test the market because he’s not thrilled with what the Knicks are offering.”

That certainly isn’t Knicks’ rumors that fans want to hear. There is already some doubt about Isaiah Hartenstein returning because other teams can offer him more money. There is some relief in Windhorst saying most people believe that OG Anunoby will return, but it could cost a little more than originally expected.
It would be truly shocking if those Knicks’ rumors amounted to more than just smoke and posturing from the reps looking to get their client as much money as possible. Not only is OG Anunboy a CAA client, but his agent is Sam Rose, son of former CAA mega agent and current Knicks president, Leon Rose.
