The New York Giants terminated the practice-squad contract of defensive lineman C.J. Ravenell on Wednesday in a corresponding move to sign offensive lineman Josh Gesky.

The team announced the transaction via Giants.com and social media, with official accounts noting the addition of Gesky and the release of Ravenell.

Gesky, an undrafted rookie out of Illinois who had spent the early portion of the 2026 season on the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad, joins New York as developmental depth along the interior offensive line.

Ravenell, 26, is a 6-foot-5, approximately 300-pound defensive tackle from Santa Clarita, California.

He went undrafted out of NCAA Division II Missouri Western in 2024 after a productive college career that included multiple All-MIAA honors, 164 tackles, 38 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks across 43 games.

He signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and spent the season on their practice squad.

Claimed off waivers by the Tennessee Titans, he appeared in 14 games with one start in 2025, recording six tackles and one forced fumble while playing 97 defensive snaps.

Those snaps came under then-Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, who now holds the same role with the Giants. Ravenell also had prior exposure to Giants head coach John Harbaugh from his time in Baltimore.

The Giants claimed Ravenell off waivers from the Titans on July 7, 2026.

He was later waived in late July with a non-football injury designation before being signed to New York’s practice squad on September 22.

His latest release clears a roster spot without him having recorded regular-season snaps for the Giants in 2026.

Practice-squad moves of this type are common during the regular season as teams manage depth, injuries, and developmental needs.

Ravenell remains eligible to sign with any club’s practice squad or active roster if claimed or signed as a free agent.

The Giants continue roster adjustments while competing in the NFC East.
