New York Giants Receive Sudden Injury Update on Malik Nabers

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers (1) warms up during a week 6 NFL football game between New York Giants and New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers offered a reassuring note on his status heading into a critical Week 9 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, telling reporters after Thursday’s practice that he expects to be available.

“I’ll be good,” Nabers told reporters when asked whether he felt confident he could play on Sunday.

The comment came after observers saw him working on the side with a trainer during the media-access portion of practice, the same session in which running back Cam Skattebo was also limited while managing a hamstring issue.

Nabers has dealt with an unspecified lingering concern this week, a pattern that has appeared several times during the 2026 season.

He has not always detailed the exact nature of these setbacks, leaving coaches and the public with incomplete information until the official injury report clarifies participation levels.

Thursday’s session marked the first clear signal that the team was managing his workload, even though he had been a full participant in recent weeks and was not listed on the initial injury report earlier in the week.

Coach John Harbaugh has previously deferred to the training staff and to Nabers’ own assessment in similar situations.

The stakes are high for a Giants team that sits in first place and can push the Eagles toward a seventh consecutive loss.

Nabers has emerged as one of the league’s most productive receivers after returning from a torn ACL and meniscus suffered in Week 4 of the 2025 season.

That injury required surgery and a subsequent spring procedure to address scar tissue, yet he has remained available for every game in 2026.

Through the early portion of the season, he has recorded 48 receptions for 605 yards and two touchdowns while drawing a heavy target share, and he posted stretches of consecutive games over 100 yards before the team’s bye.

His presence stretches opposing secondaries and creates space for the rest of the offense in a division race that remains tight.

Sunday’s game at Philadelphia therefore carries added weight for both clubs. For the Giants, keeping their top receiver on the field would preserve the continuity that has fueled their standing.

For the Eagles, neutralizing Nabers would be a necessary step in any attempt to halt their skid.

Nabers’ brief statement after practice suggests he intends to be part of the equation, though Friday’s official report will provide the clearest picture of his exact participation level and any formal designation.

Until then, the Giants appear prepared to count on the same player who has already helped redefine their offense in his third NFL season.
