Netflix is bringing back its popular American Football documentary series Quarterback for a highly anticipated third season this summer, introducing an exciting lineup of prominent players to the show. The series has built a strong following by offering an intimate glimpse into the demanding world of NFL quarterbacks, blending high-stakes games with personal stories from their off-field lives.

Fans can look forward to fresh perspectives as four standout athletes step into the spotlight for the upcoming installment.

Previous seasons captured the journeys of elite signal-callers like Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Kirk Cousins throughout their NFL campaigns. These episodes highlighted not only their on-field performances but also the emotional and family challenges they navigated amid the pressures of professional sports.

Building on that foundation, the new season promises to deliver even more compelling narratives from a diverse group of talents at different stages in their careers.

The streaming platform officially confirmed the casting details through its Tudum website. Among the featured players is Washington Commanders’ Jayden Daniels, who impressed everyone during his debut year.

“Washington Commanders’ Jayden Daniels joins Quarterback after taking the NFL by storm as a rookie in 2024,” Netflix revealed in an announcement. “Setting multiple league records while leading the Commanders to a 12-5 record and a game away from the Super Bowl, Daniels was nearly unanimously named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. After putting the league on notice with a historic debut season in Washington, Daniels enters Year 2 with the pressure, attention, and momentum all dialed up.”

Another key addition to the cast is Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, whose career has taken a positive turn in recent years. The star quarterback “bounced around the league a bit early in his career, but has certainly found a home — and a growing family — with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, earning two Pro Bowl selections while replacing the legendary Tom Brady,” Netflix’s synopsis reads. “Entering his third season with the Bucs in 2025, the expectations couldn’t be higher for Mayfield and his talented receiving corp.”

The series will also follow Cam Ward, the Tennessee Titans’ young standout selected as the top overall pick in the draft. As a newcomer to the professional ranks, Ward’s transition from college football to the NFL will provide viewers with a unique rookie viewpoint.

“The record-setting college QB earned the Davey O’Brien and Manning awards as one of the country’s top quarterbacks in his senior season at the University of Miami, and now takes his talents to the professional level, already the face of his new team,” Netflix said.

Rounding out the group is veteran quarterback Joe Flacco of the Cincinnati Bengals, who brings decades of experience to the documentary. At 41 years old and a former Super Bowl MVP, Flacco stands out as the most seasoned member of this quartet. The show notes that he “has been in the NFL almost as long as Ward has been alive.”

What sets Flacco’s storyline apart is his mid-season movement between teams, marking a first for the series. He will be “the first player to be traded during a season of Quarterback, offering a unique look at the business of the NFL.” This development allows the cameras to capture the realities of roster changes and adaptation in real time.

“As he finds his way from the Cleveland Browns to divisional rival the Cincinnati Bengals, Flacco must learn a fresh playbook and build relationships with new teammates, all while balancing fatherhood,” the description continues. Such elements add depth, showing how personal responsibilities intersect with the fast-paced demands of the league.

With these four dynamic personalities, Season 3 is poised to explore a wide range of themes, from rising stardom and veteran resilience to the intricate workings of team dynamics and individual growth. Audiences can expect candid moments that reveal the human side of these athletes as they pursue excellence on the gridiron.

The new season of Quarterback is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on July 14, offering football enthusiasts another chance to dive deep into the lives of some of the game’s most intriguing figures. This installment looks set to maintain the series’ reputation for compelling storytelling that goes beyond the final score.
