Almost five months have passed since the troubling disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie. The 84-year-old woman vanished from her residence in Arizona during the early morning hours of February 1, 2026.

Authorities have treated the case as a suspected kidnapping from the outset, yet the investigation has yielded few solid breakthroughs despite extensive efforts by law enforcement.

The prolonged uncertainty surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s fate has weighed heavily on her family and the public. Savannah Guthrie and her loved ones continue to navigate this difficult period while hoping for any developments that could bring clarity. As time stretches on without resolution, new information shared on June 26 has sparked fresh attention from both media outlets and investigators.

On that date, TMZ revealed that officials could be on the verge of pinpointing the primary individual connected to the abduction. The entertainment news site disclosed receiving a fresh communication from an unidentified source who asserts knowledge of those responsible for Nancy Guthrie’s vanishing.

This latest outreach builds on prior contact from the same person, who had earlier sought payment in cryptocurrency for details.

The anonymous correspondent described possessing critical evidence, including visual proof tied directly to the events of the day Nancy Guthrie is believed to have passed away. In the message, the individual outlined having access to a hidden device that holds what they consider decisive material.

“I have a phone stashed in a secure location guaranteeing both the information it stores and the safety of the phone,” the sender wrote. “What it contains is my definition of delivering them on a silver platter, a short video of the main guy with Nancy the day that was probably her last, pictures of both involved, names and addresses and age.”

Beyond the video footage, the email reportedly includes photographs of the people allegedly involved, along with their identifying details such as names, locations, and ages. The writer emphasized that the device remains in a spot that would be straightforward to reach for anyone given proper directions. To unlock its contents, the source proposed providing the necessary password in return for one Bitcoin, echoing their previous demand for compensation.

According to the report, the anonymous tipster specified that exactly two people carried out the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie. TMZ journalists sought verification by requesting a sample image of the missing woman from the sender before sharing the full communication with the FBI for further examination. This step underscores the outlet’s cautious approach to handling potentially sensitive claims in an active case.

This recent email arrives against the backdrop of earlier mysterious correspondences sent shortly after the initial disappearance. Reports indicate that two separate notes, traced to the same internet protocol address, reached both Nancy Guthrie’s relatives and various media organizations within days of her being taken from her Arizona home. These writings offered conflicting updates on her condition at the time.

The first message suggested that the elderly woman remained alive but in distress, stating she was “safe but scared.” A follow-up note shifted to a far grimmer tone, declaring that she had died and that her remains were “buried in nature.” The authors of these notes apparently conveyed some level of remorse regarding her alleged death, adding an emotional layer to the already complex situation.

Investigators have been working to connect these communications to the broader inquiry, examining any digital trails or patterns that might point toward suspects. The consistency in origin between the notes and the latest email has heightened interest in whether they stem from individuals with direct involvement or from someone on the periphery seeking attention or reward.

As authorities review the newest material provided to the FBI, the case of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance remains open and unresolved. The passage of nearly half a year since February 1 has only deepened the urgency for answers. Family members, including her daughter Savannah, continue to await any verifiable progress that could shed light on what truly happened that fateful day.

The public’s fascination with the story reflects broader concerns about elder safety and the challenges of high-profile missing persons investigations. While speculation swirls around the anonymous claims, officials have not yet confirmed any arrests or identifications tied to the latest tips.

For now, the hope persists that these leads will finally move the case forward after months of silence.
