Minnesota Vikings’ Trade Rumors Take Absolutely Stunning Turn

With the NFL trade deadline approaching in roughly three weeks, speculation has intensified around whether the Minnesota Vikings might explore a surprising move involving wide receiver Jordan Addison.

The team has started the season strongly, and while many observers expect them to look for additions on either side of the ball, some voices have instead floated the idea of dealing Addison for future assets.

Radio personality Stephen Turner recently highlighted the possibility on social media, noting discussions about moving Addison rather than fellow receiver Jauan Jennings.

Rotowire’s Ian Hartitz also named Addison as the “best-case scenario” for the Los Angeles Rams following the injury to Davante Adams.

Jennings has seen limited production so far, recording just two catches for nine yards through five games while playing on a one-year contract, which limits his trade value.

Addison, by contrast, carries more market appeal as a younger player who has previously shown promise as a complementary option opposite Justin Jefferson.

Addison’s own early-season numbers have been modest: 11 receptions for 163 yards and one touchdown.

That output falls short of the expectations surrounding a player often viewed as one of the league’s better secondary receivers. Despite the slow start, a midseason trade remains unlikely.

Minnesota would almost certainly need a comparable receiving talent coming back in return to justify parting with him during a competitive year, and such swaps are rare.

Looking further ahead, Addison’s future in Minnesota appears uncertain regardless. The Vikings have already exercised his fifth-year option for 2027, yet few expect him to remain with the franchise long-term.

An offseason trade could become more realistic, particularly as the team evaluates its broader roster needs. Minnesota recently moved on from quarterback J.J. McCarthy and currently lacks a signal-caller under contract for next season.

With a strong record improving their draft positioning, the Vikings may still need to trade up to secure a quarterback prospect.

Additional draft capital obtained by dealing Addison could help facilitate that effort if other teams anticipate the move and price accordingly.

Elsewhere, fantasy analyst Ian Hartitz has identified Addison as a potential “best-case” addition for the Los Angeles Rams, who lost Davante Adams to injured reserve with a ruptured hamstring.

Whether any serious interest materializes before the deadline is unclear. For now, the more plausible timeline for any Addison deal appears to be the coming offseason, when Minnesota can weigh his production against the need for draft resources to address the quarterback position.

Until then, the speculation serves as a reminder of how quickly contending teams reassess even established young talent when larger roster questions loom.
