The Minnesota Vikings have almost everything they need to win a Super Bowl right now. They’ve got a talented defense, offensive playmakers, and a roster that’s been built for success. What they may not have, however, is a legitimate Super Bowl caliber quarterback.

Of course, they have a young and promising signal caller in J.J. McCarthy, but the rookie was forced to miss his entire first season with a knee injury, leaving him as a bit of a question mark heading into 2025.

That uncertainty has the Vikings pondering their options, and according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, they’re still on the fence about Aaron Rodgers.

Talking on “GoJo & Golic” (via The Purple Persuasion), the renowned insider revealed that Minnesota hasn’t made up its mind about chasing the veteran quarterback.

She added that there are many people around the league who think Rodgers can still win and given all the moves the Vikings have made and the pieces they have in place, he might be just what they need to win the whole thing.

Nevertheless, Rodgers comes with plenty of baggage. The 41-year-old’s flair for drama and his hefty salary demands could complicate matters.

More than that, the Vikings didn’t want to pay Sam Darnold or Daniel Jones as much money as they got somewhere else this offseason, so that financial caution might also be a factor in their decision about Rodgers.

The Vikings are doing things the right way, building a team that’s in a position to be very good for years to come. They’ve got stars like Justin Jefferson, a good offensive line, and a defense that can shut down the best in the league.

Then again, it will most likely depend on whether they trust their first-year quarterback, McCarthy, to take the team to the top now—or if they see Aaron Rodgers as the missing link to get them over the hump in the immediate future.

For Minnesota, it’s a classic crossroads: stick with the unproven upside of a young quarterback or roll the dice on a seasoned star like Rodgers. It’s a tough choice to make.
