The Milwaukee Brewers will send 24-year-old right-hander Logan Henderson to the mound for Game 2 of the National League Division Series.
Manager Pat Murphy made the announcement as the club prepared for its first postseason series after claiming the National League’s best regular-season record.
The Brewers finished 103-59 and earned a first-round bye. They will open the NLDS on Oct. 3 against the winner of the Wild Card Series between the San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs.
Jacob Misiorowski, the team’s ace, is slated to start Game 1.
Henderson posted an 11-3 record with a 2.47 ERA in 18 starts this season. He logged 98 1/3 innings, struck out 110 batters and walked 19.
His WHIP of 0.84 ranked among the better marks in the majors. He allowed 64 hits and 14 home runs.
Over his last seven starts, Henderson went 5-1 with a 1.93 ERA in 42 innings.
For his brief major-league career spanning two seasons, he is 14-3 with a 2.33 ERA in 123 2/3 innings.
Henderson, listed at 6-foot and 209 pounds, was drafted by Milwaukee in the fourth round of the 2021 amateur draft out of McLennan Community College. He made his Major League debut in 2025 and appeared in five games that year, going 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA.
The Brewers used a six-man rotation at times late in the season to line up their starters for October.
Murphy has options after Game 2, including Robert Gasser and possible bulk relief appearances if a third or fourth starter is needed.
Henderson’s strikeout rate this year sat at 10.1 per nine innings. His walk rate of 1.7 per nine innings showed improved command. He threw a career-high 93 pitches in one July start against the San Francisco Giants, working 5 2/3 scoreless innings.
The Brewers won seven straight games in which he started at one point during the season.
Milwaukee’s pitching staff as a whole ranked among the league leaders in strikeouts. The club’s regular season success gave it home-field advantage throughout the National League playoffs if it advances.
Game 1 is scheduled for Oct. 3 at American Family Field. The exact Game 2 date will depend on the Wild Card Series outcome and rest days.
Henderson’s assignment reflects the organization’s confidence in its young arms after a season that produced the NL’s top record.
