After the Miami Heat were eliminated from the playoffs with Jimmy Butler injured, there have been a ton of Miami Heat rumors about what is going to happen for the team this offseason.
One of the players that has been talked about the most is Butler. Since coming to Miami, Butler has been the best player on the team and helped bring them to the NBA Finals against the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers in the last five seasons.
Butler emerged as a superstar in Miami, as he has helped continue and build upon Heat Culture.
However, with the Heat having a mediocre regular season by their standards and being eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the first round, it feels like things might look different in South Beach next season. With potential changes coming in Miami, it has been reported that Butler may have played his last game for the Heat.
While some may speculate that Butler and Miami are going to split, that would require that Pat Riley trade Butler. As of now, Butler is under contract for next season and then has a player option.
At 34 years old, it would be interesting to see what the market would be for Jimmy Butler. While Butler is very good come playoff time generally, he has missed a lot of time during the regular season. For a team that would likely have to give up quite a bit of capital to bring in Butler, the age and injury concerns might limit interest to a degree.
Over the last few years, Miami has been trying to pair Butler with another star, as they were heavily linked to Damian Lillard last offseason before he was sent to the Milwaukee Bucks. However, with Miami being unable to pair another star with Butler, they might look to go into either a little rebuild or at least a retool.
As the offseason rolls on, the Heat will be a team to watch, as Jimmy Butler being traded could potentially change the landscape of the league depending on where he goes.
