Major 5-Star Recruit Decommits from LSU Tigers

The LSU Tigers football program received some tough news earlier this week. One of their five-star recruits, wide receiver Dakorien Moore, has de-committed from the program and will be reopening his recruitment.

This is a major loss for LSU, as Moore is the No. 3 ranked prospect in the 2025 class. From Duncanville, Texas, Moore is listed at 5’11” and weighing 185 pounds and has been committed to the Tigers since last August.

He announced that he is de-committing from LSU and reopening the recruitment process on X, formerly Twitter. Offers from other schools will now be considered by him.

Along with LSU, Moore had three other schools in his top group before committing last summer; Ohio State, Oregon and Texas. All three schools continued recruiting him despite the commitment to the Tigers and are likely back in the mix now that he is available again.

While it is certainly disappointing to lose a weapon the caliber of Moore, the LSU Tigers’ recruiting class for 2025 is still a strong one. He was the second-highest recruit in the class, behind quarterback Bryce Underwood out of Belleville, Michigan, who was No. 2.

LSU still has six top 300 commitments currently in the 2025 class. Along with Underwood, they have secured commitments from No. 1 running back Harlem Berry and offensive linemen Devin Harper and Tyler Miller. On the defensive side of the ball, the Tigers have commitments from cornerback Jaboree Antoine and linebacker Charles Ross.

Those commitments are continuing the momentum that Brian Kelly has had at the start of his tenure as head coach at LSU. He has put together back-to-back 10-win seasons, winning the Citrus Bowl in 2023 and ReliaQuest Bowl earlier this year.

The LSU Tigers will have some major shoes to fill this upcoming season as quarterback Jayden Daniels, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, and wide receiver Malik Nabers were both top-six picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.
