Los Angeles Rams rookie edge rusher Jared Verse isn’t shy about his feelings toward Philadelphia Eagles fans. The Defensive Rookie of the Year frontrunner, who has enjoyed an impressive debut season, admitted his disdain for the passionate fanbase on Thursday.

“I hate Eagles fans,” Verse told Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times. “They’re so annoying. I hate Eagles fans.”

Verse, who attended three years of high school in Pennsylvania, went on to explain his complicated history with the Eagles’ supporters. “When I see that green and white, I hate it,” he added. “I actually get upset. Like I actually genuinely get hot.”

Verse’s distaste stems from his encounter with Eagles fans during the Rams’ Week 12 game against Philadelphia at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. He recalled how some fans shouted obscenities at him before the game despite him having done nothing to provoke them.

“It was my first time playing. Oh, I hate Eagles fans,” Verse said, indicating that the negative interaction only reinforced his feelings.

The rookie edge rusher has been one of the standout performers of the 2024 season, registering 4.5 sacks and forcing 76 quarterback pressures, which ranks fourth in the NFL. His aggressive play and ability to disrupt the backfield have made him a key contributor for the Rams’ defense.

As the Rams prepare to face the Eagles in Sunday’s Divisional Round matchup, Verse should expect to feel the full force of Philadelphia’s fanbase at Lincoln Financial Field, one of the most notoriously hostile venues in the NFL.

With his fiery comments likely sparking even more tension, it looks like Jared Verse will have no shortage of motivation — and potential animosity — as the Rams look to advance in the playoffs.
