The Los Angeles Dodgers could make a notable roster change this offseason, with veteran outfielder Alex Call emerging as a potential departure ahead of the 2027 season.

Call’s future has become uncertain following a disappointing 2026 campaign and the emergence of younger players within the organization.

According to Fabian Ardaya and Katie Woo of The Athletic, the Dodgers could decide against tendering Call a contract for next season.

The two reporters believe Los Angeles is more likely to release the 32-year-old into free agency than retain him through salary arbitration.

Call appeared in 88 games during the 2026 regular season, batting .233 with one home run, 20 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

He also posted a .349 on-base percentage, .307 slugging percentage and .655 OPS across 163 at-bats.

Those numbers represented a decline from his production in 2025, when he provided useful depth following his arrival from the Washington Nationals.

The Dodgers acquired Call ahead of the 2025 trade deadline, adding an experienced outfielder capable of playing multiple positions and contributing off the bench.

However, his role became increasingly limited this season as Los Angeles leaned on other options.

Call was excluded from the team’s postseason rosters during its National League Division Series and Championship Series appearances.

That decision raised further questions about whether the organization considers him part of its plans moving forward.

Los Angeles already has Kyle Tucker, Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernández under contract for 2027, creating a crowded situation in the outfield.

The emergence of prospect Josue De Paula has also complicated Call’s outlook.

De Paula appeared in 11 major league games during the regular season, batting .323 with a 1.081 OPS. He also earned a spot on the Dodgers’ postseason roster.

Call’s financial situation gives Los Angeles another reason to consider a change.

The veteran earned $1.6 million in 2026 and is projected to receive approximately $1.9 million through arbitration next season, according to MLB Trade Rumors.

While that figure would represent a relatively small commitment for the Dodgers, the organization could prefer to use the roster spot elsewhere.

Call remains under team control, meaning Los Angeles must decide whether to offer him a contract before the Nov. 20 tender deadline.

The Dodgers could also explore a trade, although his limited offensive production might make finding an interested team difficult.

Across five major league seasons with Cleveland, Washington and Los Angeles, Call has compiled a .241 batting average, 22 home runs and 116 RBIs in 403 games.

His career .343 on-base percentage demonstrates an ability to reach base despite modest power production.

For now, no final decision has been announced regarding Call’s future.

However, with younger outfielders pushing for opportunities and the Dodgers preparing for another important offseason, Call could find himself looking for a new team before 2027.
