The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-hander Kyle Hurt from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, according to the MiLB transaction log.

The entry, dated October 8, lists a straightforward promotion: the Dodgers recalled Hurt from the Oklahoma City Comets. ESPN’s transaction wire carried the same move.

It is the latest turn on a season defined by the shuttle between Chavez Ravine and Oklahoma City. The club optioned him on September 23, the same day it reinstated left-hander Tarik Skubal from the bereavement list. Two weeks later, he is back on the big-league side of the roster.

Hurt, 28, spent most of 2026 in the Dodgers’ bullpen. He appeared in 44 games, one of them a start, and finished 4-1 with a 4.14 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 58 strikeouts in 45⅔ innings.

He also recorded his first major-league save, on May 27 against the Colorado Rockies.

His last outing before the September option was two scoreless innings against the Padres on September 22, with two strikeouts and a single allowed.

Across parts of three seasons with Los Angeles, he is 4-2 with a 3.64 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 54⅓ innings.

The recall fits a familiar pattern. Hurt was optioned and recalled repeatedly after joining the club on April 13 — July 19, August 1, August 16, and September 20 among the promotions — usually to cover a short-handed bullpen or an injured-list move.

His Triple-A line was thinner and rougher: 13 games, 11 innings, a 7.36 ERA and 19 strikeouts. The major-league work is what the organization has leaned on.

Born May 30, 1998, in Rancho Santa Fe, California, Hurt pitched at Torrey Pines High School and the University of Southern California. The Miami Marlins took him in the fifth round of the 2020 draft, 134th overall.

In February 2021, Miami sent him to Los Angeles with left-hander Alex Vesia in the deal that moved Dylan Floro the other way.

He debuted on September 12, 2023, against the Padres, striking out the side in his first inning of work. Shoulder inflammation limited him in 2024, and right-elbow surgery wiped out his 2025 major-league season before a late rehab assignment in Oklahoma City.

The timing is the open question. The Dodgers won the National League West and are in the postseason; Emmet Sheehan was recalled from Oklahoma City two days earlier, on October 6.

Thursday’s move does not, by itself, say whether Hurt is a roster replacement, a depth arm, or insurance. The log only confirms that he has been brought back from the Comets.
