Iowa Hawkeyes basketball sensation Caitlin Clark’s competitive spirit is legendary.

From her early years, fueled by stories shared by her family, it’s evident that she’s always strived to excel in everything she does. This fierce determination isn’t confined to the basketball court, where she showcases her intensity with every logo three-pointer or in contesting a call.

It’s a trait deeply ingrained in her character, evident even outside the realm of a high-stakes game.

During a press conference preceding Iowa’s Sweet 16 matchup against Colorado, Coach Lisa Bluder shed light on Clark’s competitiveness. She revealed instances where she had to call technical fouls on Clark during practice, emphasizing the importance of maintaining composure in all situations.

Despite the presence of officials, mostly student managers, in their practices, Bluder explained that sometimes Clark’s passion compels her to take matters into her own hands.

When Clark, alongside teammates Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin, addressed Bluder’s remarks, Clark swiftly responded, indicating that such incidents hadn’t occurred recently.

Marshall and Martin acknowledged their role as referees during practices, albeit admitting their lack of expertise in officiating, which perhaps contributes to Clark’s heightened reactions to calls.

Clark’s unwavering competitive drive will be put to the test in Iowa’s Elite Eight showdown against the LSU Tigers, the team responsible for Iowa’s defeat in last year’s National Championship.

Going head-to-head with LSU standout Angel Reese, known for her own tenacity, promises an electrifying rematch sure to ignite sparks on the court.
