Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been grabbing headlines for weeks. Her record-setting performance collegiately with Iowa led to her stardom and things haven’t slowed down since joining the WNBA.
The No. 1 overall pick in the draft a few weeks ago, the buzz around Caitlin Clark has only continued growing. She played an integral part in the league getting chartered flights for all of the teams, as he popularity has created an influx of attention. Even knowing that, she still praised the veterans who came before her, paving the way.
With that attention comes a lot of pressure, as Caitlin Clark has some massive expectations heading into her rookie season with the Indiana Fever. She is a heavy favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award and many people are expecting her to have success right out of the gate.
Being in the WNBA also provides the opportunity for more fans to see her play. With the league expanding, there will be even more cities welcoming the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark to town soon.
This week, she will make her much-anticipated regular season debut. The Fever are set to hit the road and take on the Connecticut Sun. That will be a hot ticket, as the Sun announced that tomorrow will be their first sellout in a home opener since 2003.
8,910 tickets have been sold for the game, as the Caitlin Clark craze is real. Wherever she goes, a massive crowd is going to follow. The Indiana Fever had over 13,000 people at their preseason home game against the Atlanta Dream, her first game in her new home as a professional.
“For me, this is the best part of it,” Clark said after Thursday’s game. “You’ve got to go out and compete every single night, and if one night is not good for us, you have an opportunity to come back a couple days later and respond.”
Don’t expect the hype train to slow down any time soon. The Fever are going to be nationally televised in 36 out of their 40 games this season, a massive number when you consider they have not been to the playoffs since 2016.
But, that is the Clark effect. Franchises are looking to host the Indiana Fever in larger arenas so that more tickets can be sold to accommodate the large number of fans who want to see her play in person.
