Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has established himself as one of the NFL’s best pass-catchers, and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner has taken notice.

Ahead of their NFC Championship Game matchup this Sunday, Warner raved about St. Brown.

“I love the way that he plays the game,” Warner told reporters, via The 33rd Team. “He has a chip on his shoulder. I think he got drafted in the fifth round or something like that, fourth round, and he took that personally. He’s been able to ascend himself into the top tier of receiver play in this league really early in his career.”

St. Brown, who played his collegiate football at the University of Southern California, was selected by the Lions in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed a strong rookie campaign, catching 90 passes for 912 yards and five touchdowns. The following year, he showed some improvement, snaring 106 balls for 1,161 yards and six scores.

But this season, St. Brown broke out in a major way, hauling in 119 receptions for 1,515 yards while reaching the end zone 10 times en route to his second straight Pro Bowl nod and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

“He does things the right way,” added Warner. “You can tell he plays hard, he practices hard. Does things the right way. He’s somebody that we’re for sure going to have to be aware of when we play them.”

Warner himself is one of the best linebackers in football, and this season, he racked up 132 tackles, 2.5 sacks, four interceptions, four forced fumbles and 11 passes defended. He made his third Pro Bowl and earned First-Team All-Pro honors for the third time, as well.

Fred Warner and the 49ers are the favorites to beat the Lions this weekend, but Detroit should not be underestimated, especially given the connection between Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown.
