49ers’ Brock Purdy Doesn’t Hold Back On NFC Championship Game

Last winter, Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers had the opportunity to play in the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles, but an elbow injury knocked Purdy out of the game.

Purdy would proceed to return to the game after backup Josh Johnson suffered a concussion, but he only threw two passes upon returning (he threw four overall).

The result was not ideal for the 49ers, as they were routed by the Eagles.

Well, next Sunday, Purdy and Co. will get another chance, as they will take on the Detroit Lions with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line.

It seems safe to say that Purdy is excited about getting a second shot.

“Last year happened. It sucked,” Purdy told Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. “We all thought we had a team to go all the way and do it. We didn’t get an opportunity to. Now, we’re back. It’s been a quick year. We’re all excited for this opportunity. We weren’t trying to think too far in the future. We knew, Green Bay coming in, it was going to be a good game. To be able to pull through at the end like that was huge. Now for us to now focus on the NFC championship.”

Purdy added that he and his squad are “drooling over this opportunity.”

San Francisco defeated the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round this past weekend. Purdy went 23-for-39 with 252 yards and a touchdown in the win.

On the season overall, the 24-year-old threw for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 69.4 percent of his passes and posting a league-high passer rating of 113.

Brock Purdy and the Niners went 12-5 and earned a first-round bye this year.
