Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson didn’t seem too keen on discussing his team’s playoff chances following its crushing Week 16 loss to the New England Patriots.

The Broncos’ postseason hopes took a major hit with their defeat at the hands of a clearly inferior Patriots opponent, and Wilson was very disappointed in the aftermath.

“I haven’t done the math,” Wilson told reporters, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “I’m feeling this loss right now. We thought we should have won this game. I think the best thing we can do is get up tomorrow and be with our families, and this and that, and then get back to work. We have two games to go, and those games mean a lot just for who we are and our fight, and our testament of who we are and how we’re going to battle back.”

Denver trailed 23-7 at one point, but rallied to score 16 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to tie the score. New England ultimately won on a field goal as time expired.

The loss dropped the Broncos to 7-8 and has made things very challenging for them as far as making the playoffs.

Yes, Denver is just one game behind the Indianapolis Colts for the seventh and final playoff spot in the AFC, but there are also three other teams sitting one game ahead of the Broncos.

Denver had gotten off to a dreadful 1-5 start this season and looked destined to fight for the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, but the club responded by winning six of seven games to improve to 7-6 and miraculously vault itself back into playoff contention.

However, the Broncos have now lost two games in a row, first getting routed by the Detroit Lions last week before falling to the Pats this past Sunday.

Denver still has a chance to qualify for the postseason, but it will require the Broncos beating both the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders in Weeks 17 and 18 while also getting a lot of help from the teams battling the squads in front of them in the standings.

Russell Wilson went 25-for-37 with 238 yards and a couple of touchdowns against the Patriots. He has thrown for 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions on the season overall.
