Patriots Insider Doubles Down On Massive Bill Belichick Report

Veteran New England Patriots insider Tom Curran remains steadfast in his assertion that Bill Belichick’s tenure with the team has reached its conclusion.

Curran initially reported last month that the Patriots had internally decided to part ways with Belichick, and he recently reiterated this claim on his podcast.

“As I reported in December, a decision was made further back in the year that the Patriots would be parting ways with Bill Belichick. The end of the season is upon us. They have not parted ways, but the decision remains. Bill Belichick will not be back as the head of the New England Patriots in 2024.”

However, the lingering question remains: why hasn’t an official announcement been made regarding Belichick’s departure, given that it’s been three days since the regular season concluded?

Curran speculates on the complexities involved in disentangling a 24-year partnership with an individual.

“I think it has a lot to do with the untangling of a 24-year union with an individual,” Curran theorized. “That untangling is going to take some time, especially if you want to keep the relationship intact going forward.”

The Patriots are emerging from a dismal 4-13 regular season, marking their worst performance during Belichick’s tenure and his poorest record as an NFL head coach.

While there are reports of multiple teams expressing interest in Belichick should he become available, the official release from his duties by the New England Patriots is a necessary step for any such transition to take place.
