At 71 years old, Belichick is not inclined to embark on a team-rebuilding project. The Cowboys could provide the ideal opportunity for Belichick to join their ranks this offseason, with the potential for a Super Bowl run in the coming seasons.
Belichick’s best chance at taking the helm as the Cowboys’ head coach hinges on McCarthy’s fate, particularly in their upcoming showdown with Belichick’s former team, the Packers, this weekend.
The longer the Cowboys extend their playoff journey, the greater the likelihood that Belichick may find another suitor or the Cowboys could opt to retain McCarthy.
