Deebo Samuel Gives Update On Shoulder Injury He Suffered Versus The Packers

The San Francisco 49ers proved that they’re more than a “front-running” team when they achieved a come-from-behind win over the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday.

Things looked somewhat bleak for them when they fell behind 21-14 late in the third quarter. To make matters worse, wide receiver Deebo Samuel left the game in the first half with a shoulder injury.

After the win, the question was whether Samuel would be able to suit up for next weekend’s NFC Championship Game, which will take place at Levi’s Stadium next weekend against the Detroit Lions.

While no official update has been provided, Samuel himself gave a positive update after the win over Green Bay.

“I’m OK,” Samuel told NBC Sports Bay Area after the win as he joked with 49ers teammates in the locker room.

NFL News & Rumors: Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers Updates

Samuel is an indispensable part of San Francisco’s offense. He not only supplied 892 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns during the regular season, but he also scored five rushing touchdowns. In addition, he is one of the team’s emotional and spiritual leaders.

When he missed two games at midseason, it struggled without him, losing to the Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals while scoring only 17 points apiece in both contests.

Detroit is a very potent offensive team that finished the regular season ranked fifth in scoring and third in total yards. The Niners may need to put up more than 24 points in order to defeat it and advance to its third Super Bowl in the last dozen years.

Samuel’s mere presence helps take pressure off their other key skill players, especially wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and All-Pro First Team tight end George Kittle. With Samuel limited on Saturday, Aiyuk had just three catches for 32 yards, which was well below his usual output during the regular season when he collected 1,342 yards.
