Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys experienced another disappointing playoff defeat over the weekend, as they were soundly beaten by the Green Bay Packers with a final score of 48-32. The game’s outcome wasn’t as competitive as the numbers on the scoreboard suggested.

This loss has cast uncertainty over the future of head coach Mike McCarthy within the Dallas organization. As of now, there is no official word on which direction team owner Jerry Jones is leaning.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport revealed more information in a new report on Wednesday about the Cowboys and McCarthy.

“Mike McCarthy is set to meet with owner Jerry Jones at some point over the next couple of days. He also has exit interviews with his players. He has one year left on his deal, generally, that means it’s a time when teams decide what to do about a head coach. The Dallas Cowboys have let coaches play it out in the past, Jason Garrett did it, so no firm word there.”

Mike McCarthy has served as the Cowboys’ head coach for the past four seasons, leading them to the playoffs on three occasions.

During his tenure, the team has encountered setbacks in the wild-card round twice and in the divisional round once.

When considering the team’s postseason struggles, Jerry Jones will need to carefully evaluate whether a coaching change is necessary.

The upcoming days will likely shed light on the organization’s decision-making process.
