NFL Analyst Reveals Draft Prospect Who’s Like 49ers’ George Kittle

George Kittle

One of the reasons that the San Francisco 49ers are such a dominant offense is the presence of tight end George Kittle. Having a player as versatile as Kittle in the lineup creates mismatches all over the field and keeps opposing defensive coordinators on their toes.

Kittle is a difference-maker as a pass catcher, capable of creating big plays with his yards-after-catch abilities. His blocking numbers don’t show up on the stat sheet, but Kittle gets the job done in the running game as well, helping Kyle Shanahan keep opponents guessing about whether it is a run or pass play coming.

It is an advantage that the 49ers have had for years and one that other teams are attempting to create as well. The 2023 NFL Draft class featured some impressive prospects at the tight end position, as Sam LaPorta, a second-round pick of the Detroit Lions, has already set some records.

NFL News & Rumors: Brock Bowers, George Kittle, 2024 NFL Draft, San Francisco 49ers Updates

Dalton Kincaid, a first-round pick of the Buffalo Bills, has had some big performances in recent weeks as well. In the 2024 NFL Draft, there is one prospect that could be selected near the top of the first round; Brock Bowers out of Georgia.

Bowers is one of the most highly-rated prospects in this year’s draft class and should be selected within the top 10. The team who picks him will be getting quite the player because in the opinion of Matt Miller of ESPN, the best comp to Bowers is the 49ers’ star.

“Bowers and Kittle are similarly built at 6-foot-4, with Bowers just 10 pounds lighter at 240 but with room to grow. And each is amazing with the ball in their hands and can be used in a number of alignments — Bowers has even carried the ball at tailback when Georgia needed to get him touches. Kittle was a better blocker leaving Iowa, but that’s a skill set that can be learned by Bowers in the NFL,” wrote Miller.

Bowers wasn’t as productive this season with the Bulldogs as his first two in Athens. In 10 games, he caught 56 passes for 714 yards and four touchdowns. It was his least productive season out of the three he played at Georiga, but that won’t deter him from being a top pick.

NFL News & Rumors: Brock Bowers, George Kittle, 2024 NFL Draft, San Francisco 49ers Updates

Kittle was originally a fifth-round pick by the 49ers out of Iowa in the 2017 NFL Draft. He was making an impact during his rookie season and by Year 2, he cemented his status as one of the top playmakers at the position.

Bowers could be on a similar path, especially if he lands with a team that will know how to make the most of his unique skill set. Being compared to a player as talented as the 49ers’ Kittle is high praise, which goes to show how highly touted of a prospect Bowers is entering the draft.
