New Report Looks Really Bad For Steelers QB Kenny Pickett

The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing numerous uncertainties as they prepare for the 2024 season. One of the most prominent concerns revolves around their quarterback situation, with the team grappling to determine whether Kenny Pickett, a former first-round pick, is the long-term solution at the position.

Pickett’s 2023 season took an unexpected turn when he failed to regain the starting role from Mason Rudolph after recovering from an ankle injury.

As the season came to a close, Pickett notably skipped the final media availability held at the team facility on a Wednesday.

Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Pickett, who also served as a team captain, was conspicuously absent during the locker clean-out day.

This absence, combined with Pickett’s somewhat lackluster performance in his first two NFL seasons and Coach Mike Tomlin’s hesitance to reinstate him on the field, raises questions about the future of his tenure with the Steelers.

Although Pickett remains under contract for the next two seasons, the Steelers may consider their options given his relatively team-friendly deal for a late first-round pick.

Kenny Pickett has devoted the past six years of his life to Pittsburgh, initially with Pitt and subsequently with the Steelers. However, if the team decides to explore different directions, Pickett might find himself in a new city in the not-so-distant future.
